Halloween was so fun this year! Mack loved walking from door to door to get candy, and he wore his costume the whole time - the hood and everything. At one door, the lady was kindly taking her time to make sure she didn't give us any candy Mack might choke on, and I guess she took a little too long because Mack said, "Uuuuuhhhhh!" Like "hurry up lady" in caveman language. We went to about 15-20 houses in my parent's neighborhood with some of Mack's cousins, and he let us know when he was tired by whining for his stroller we were pushing along with us. So, we headed back to Grandma's for chili and to hang out with family. I have to brag and let you all know that I sewed his dinosaur costume all by myself! Isn't he adorable?

A few days before Halloween we went to a Pumpkin Patch they have every year in the parking lot of a local casino. They had little kid rides, a petting zoo, one of those big, blow-up bouncy slides, and pumpkins for sale. We wanted to go when it wasn't too crowded so we went right when it opened on a week day morning (9am) when Gregg wasn't too busy at work. We were the only ones there for the first half an hour or so. It was almost a little awkward, but it was nice to just let Mack run. We went down the slide and checked out the animals, and then a preschool group showed up so we jumped in with them on the one ride we thought Mack could go on (most of them seemed more for kids that are a little bit older (3yrs plus)). It was fun and I'm sure we'll go every year now.
Here are some pictures of us at the Pumpkin Patch and carving our pumpkin:
Since my last Mack update, here are a few more things he's done/said:
** Started saying "cookie" and "drinky" (we add a 'y' on to a lot of our words when we talk to Mack, probably not a good habit to start).
** Mack and I went grocery shopping and I stopped to look at some buckets for trick-or-treating. Out of nowhere, I heard him say "hi", and I looked to see who he was talking to. He was saying "hi" to a bucket that looked like Elmo's head. Of course, I had to buy it for him because he is so precious. Now, whenever he sees Elmo on TV or anywhere, he says "hi".
** I record Sesame Street for Mack and then turn it on when I need him to be distracted. I started an episode for him the other day and it was showing an ad at the beginning that had Cookie Monster in it, and Mack said "Cookie". I couldn't believe it because I have never talked about Cookie Monster with him. You never know what they're going to pick up from TV. Good thing we don't let him watch 24.
** I was wearing an old basketball shirt from high school the other day (no, I wasn't any good), and Mack pointed at the pictures on it and said "ball" and "hoop". Gregg told me he's been teaching him 'hoop' at church whenever they walk through the cultural hall.
** Whenever we give Mack a taste of soda, of course it's way too strong for him, so we say "whoa, that has some kick!" Now, when he wants a taste of Gregg's soda he says "kicky".
Here's what Mack was doing while I was blogging (I wish):

I just realized there are no pictures of Gregg in all of our October pictures! So, here's a little gem for those of you who need a Gregg fix:

super post! mack-y (like my "y") is so cute and i wish i could hear him talk more :)
Mack is so cute! And I love the dinosaur costume. You did an awesome job on it. Kudos to you!
Wait didn't you just post something not too long ago about not choosing to be super mom...whatever.;) I always think mom's that sew the costume are definitely in the running for super mom. VERY CUTE. I am very impressed...prego and everything and you still chose to sew it. Mack looked adorable.
I love that he calls soda "kicky"...that's pretty cute. I hope he'll talk for us in a couple of weeks.
Just because kids are around, doesn't mean you act like an adult. I know you...ha ha ha
Clay and I looked at your blog together. Obviously we love all the pictures. we were both pretty impressed with the costume. Great job! I think that Bec makes all her costumes too-it runs in the family.
I also love the the fact that Mack says "kicky" He is so cute. Clay and I were commenting that he looks so grown up. He looks like a little man. Especially while reading the paper!
Thanks for the Gregg fix!!!!
Shelly, Pam from The Office is your doppleganger...you have to picture her without the top hat!
Hey Great post. Mack is so adorable. And great job on his costume. Thats talent!
Love the costume!!! I was all proud of the tutu I made for Brecken's costume until I saw the dinosaur...thanks for ruining my day. J/K! By the way, you look fantastic. I hope you're feeling well. Love ya.
Hey! Great costume! I am definitely inferior, b/c people kept asking me if I made Nathan's costume, I think that's what moms are supposed to do. I had to bring a shirt over to my Mom's house just to get a button sewn back on....it's that bad.
btw- I love that you have been posting the baby name rejects...it's such a hard process sometimes.
Awesome Job on the costume, I love it!!! I had no idea that you sew.
Bec - I know, he doesn't talk much unless we're at home and then it's pretty much non-stop gibberish.
April - Way to go on Brecken's tutu... I thought it was store bought, that's how professional it looks! You need to learn how to brag about yourself like I do.
Amanda - I was so glad to see your comment and blog! I decided to take the baby name rejects off because I didn't want to offend anyone in case they liked/used those names. I'm too kind. :)
Thanks to everyone for your nice comments I solicited about Mack's costume. It's only about my 3rd or 4th sewing project, so I was pretty happy with it.
I can't wait to hear all of Mack's vocab over Thanksgiving... seriously can't wait to see everyone! You look great in all of your pics... not really prego at all. I hope you are feeling good. Mack's costume is amazing! I'm sure after 3-4 kids, you will find yourself buying them at at store... but for now-- let your talents shine! It's a fun post, and I enjoyed the pic at the end... I love to see the kid in all of us! See you in a few!
